Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest The two towns of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest are to be found on the estuary of the Myall River on the northern side of Port Stephens, a one hour drive from Newcastle and two and half hours north of Sydney. Nearby is the Myall Lakes National Park which covers an area of 44,000 hectares in which can be found 10,125 hectares of lakes. Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest are connected by the Singing Bridge that spans the Myall River, they are home to some 3500 residents, who along with the many visitors to the area enjoy a wealth of interests of fishing, both river and sea, golfing and other sporting activities such as tennis, swimming, bowls, croquet. Other activities such as Arts and Craft abound. The pristine beaches, Bennetts Beach and Jimmys Beach, provide a great opportunity for relaxation by Mums and Dads whilst the kids dig in the sand or swimming the surf of Bennett's Beach or play in the safe waters of Jimmy’s Beach.
